Individual Antioxidant Profile - Natural Products
There are literally thousands of plant chemicals (natural products) that have the ability to scavenge free radicals. An ever expanding literature base implicates the importance of phytochemicals in a variety of diseases such as cancer and also in controlling the aging process. The main classes of naturally occurring antioxidants include flavonoids and polyphenolics, phytoestrogens, vitamin A and related compounds, and vitamin E.

A. Flavonoids and Polyphenolics

  • Flavonoids fingerprint
  • Identification and quantitation of individual phenolics
  • Identification and quantitation of individual anthocyanins
  • Identification and quantitation of proanthocyanidins

B. Phytoestrogens
Isoflavonic phytoestrogens are diphenolic compounds of plant origin that have been implicated in the protection against estrogen dependent and perhaps other types of cancer. We developed and validated sensitive, selective and high through-put methods for a variety of phytoestrogens and their metabolites from phytochemical extracts or human urine and plasma following plant ingestion.

  • Coumestrol
  • Daidzein
  • Genistein
  • Estradiol
  • Estriol

C. Vitamin A and related compounds

  • Vitamin A
  • a-Carotene
  • b-Carotene
  • Lutein
  • Lycopene

D. Vitamin E

  • a-tocopherol
  • b-tocopherol
  • d-Tocopherol
  • e-Tocopherol
  • Tocotrienols
