We investigate the health effect of a material on gout improvement via an enzymarice analysis based on xanthine oxidase inhibition. Xanthine oxidase is a key enzyme catalyzing xanthine to uric acid that finally caused gout. Previous studies show that herbal plants and extracts contain XO inhibitors that have been traditionally used in some cultures for the treatment of gout and its related symptoms. Several medications such as allopurinol that inhibit xanthine oxidase are developed for gout treatment. Here, we use an enzymatic xanthine oxidase inhibition assay to evaluate the potential health function of a test material on gout prevention and treatment.
